CELLPHONE MANNERS MATTER TOO!

Cellphones are a great technology. If it wasn't invented we wouldn't be able to call or text people right away. However people with cellphones nowadays carry their cellphone and use it everywhere and anytime they want. They use it in churches, during seminars and lectures, in private meetings and everywhere they aren't suppose to be using. People have learned manners since they were young from Do not talk, when your mouth is full or Do not point at people because it is rude but why don't they ever use these when using their cellphones? Honestly, cellphones were used so you can talk or text conveniently but not when you are at church or at school. People take advantage of their cellphones. People drive and talk with their cellphone when they are driving which is totally dangerous because it can trigger an accident, students text each other during classes and test which is cheating and disrespect to the teacher, and people just call other people during unnecessary times which is RIDICULOUS. I think there are specific times or places when you can use your cellphone. 5 rules that I think that are necessary to follow when using cellphones are: People with headsets shouldn't talk to loud because it can disturb people's train of thoughts and quiet surroundings. People should not talk or text when in places such as church or school unless emergency. People should be aware of the place and the time when using their cell phones. People should turn off or put their phone in vibrate when they are at special places. People in general with cellphones shoudn't talk loud because this can disturb people's personal space and it is not right and people should only use their cellphones when necessary. These rules should be followed to make sure that people have cellphone manners because it does matter to most people. Therefore, I think people should think more about where and when to use their cellphones. Thank you:)

Everything's Amazing and Nobody's Happy

Technologies...what comes to mind when you hear that word? People don't seem to care about technology...I mean technology is very useful without it our life wouldn't be like it is right now.People seem to take advantage of technology, instead of using it for the right reasons, some people tend to use it for the wrong reasons such as killing, stealing, and terrorizing a whole country. In the good old days, people didn't have technology, they hand washed their clothes on the lake, cooked food using fireplaces by rubbing two wood together and making fire, there were NO TV's, computer, radio, MP3's so people used other people as their sort of entertainment. Technology has been around since 1958. Technology not only has helped us in our daily lives from getting to school from our houses via car, buses, trains, etc., talk/chat and webcam with our relatives from around the world and meet new people from around the film, talk to our friend by telephones or more convenient cellphones, wash and dry clothes without human labour, clean the house using a vacuum, cook food using stoves, research information using the Internet, and make homework easy without writing just typing. Technology also has lead to many new interesting inventions and cures for people with illnesses. To me, technology is really important. Technology has kept me alive, entertained and it helped me meet new people from around the world via Facebook and MSN , it also has changed my life because then before I came to Canada, I hand washed my clothes which took quite long, now that I live in Canada I can afford to buy a washing machine and a dryer. I feel that people should not take advantage of technology because people in our next generation would have nothing if we use up all of these resources. Technology is good if we use it for good and bad if only used for bad choices. Without technology, I don't think I would live because I wouldn't want to live my life being bored. Something I totally can't live without is TV because TV is my life; it gives me entertainment, great infromation about life and it makes me aware of my daily environment. For example there are diseases spreading outside such as Airborn, then I wouldn't plan on going outside and catch the risk of dying. Therefore, technology is very important and people should NOT take advantage of this invention for when used for wrong purposes, it might lead to losing it altogether.

The Inauguration of Barack Obama

CHANGE "Yes We can" Tuesday, January 20th, 2009. The Inauguration of Barack Obama. The first African-American president of America. He made history by being the 44th president of the United States of America. This is the day when America and the rest of the world rejoices. The Inauguration of this president means everything from new government, new leaders, and a lot to the rest of the world and Americans. This also means new policies. Things will change in America, Canada and the rest of the world with Barack Obama as the president by his new leadership skills, laws and how he handles things. He is very inspirational because he is the first black president. He gives hope to people because he did something that people never thought would be possible."That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet." In his speech, he explains the crisis happening in America and how he can help CHANGE the problems that needs help and will be met. As i was watching this, I found it very interesting and it made me aware of the situations happening in America. His speech gave hope to the Americans due to the previous president. Americans seemed to be in a state of grief and it seemed as though there was no hope. Barack Obama is currently trying to break the mold and is creating new plans in order to bring the world into a state of order, despite the mass amount of chaos presently in our world.

Colossal U ad Campaign

Personally, I don't think the ad was appropriate at all...they are telling us that everyone is exactly the same when clearly we are not..people think differently. Even though we are created in the image of God we are never gonna be alike. For example twins might look alike but there are certain characteristics that make them different or opposite from each other. The way they think is different. Another thing one twin can be taller than another twin and one can be quiet and the other might be loud. They have no right to tell us that we are the same and if they don't want new ideas and new thinking then they are telling us that all students from that university think alike..If there is no diversity how is it gonna work? This is ridiculous!! Students should instead be encouraged to do what they are good at not what the whole school is good at..This is saying that the university system is really boring and that they all think alike. Thus, after going to the website of Colossal University, I found out that it was a fake ad. Colossal University is not a real school. I guess they were just trying to make it more interesting and have a debate about it and promote Algoma University. I guess that was pretty smart but if students actually believed it then less students would want to go to that school. It was good but it causes controversy. I don't think they implied it good enough.

Gaming gone wild

I play a lot of video games at home. Rock Band especially, Mario, DDR,Ford Racing and many more... I think video games makes me feel less stressed but also causes laziness... Video games get you super addicted its like if you win one round you have to keep going on...The bad thing is you get addicted then you stop doing your other work like homework, socializing with friends, eating dinner with family or getting exercise and fresh air; instead you become a lazy couch potato.. A situation that had happened a month ago was "The Brandon Crisp" situation. It was when he ran away from home because him and his dad had an argument over his Xbox when he took it away from him and then few weeks later his body was found and was suspected that he fell off from a tree. We all know learn that video games are good once in awhile in life but you have to balance your life with homework, socializing with friends, and spending time with family.... Those are the many advantages and disadvantages of video games...They are indeed fun but also highly addicting and causes problems in your eyes because of the radiation from the television.

The Campaign Trail

Barack Obama's win was what everyone in America was waiting for and finally it came true. Hallelujah!! I think his ad was very meaningful of what a typical America is like. It was very intelligent, it is showing us the issues that America is dealing with such as the war in Iraq, people losing their jobs, people not being able to afford to buy medications because they don't have OHIP and free health care unlike Canada, and how much hurricanes they have dealt with in the past few years. Barack Obama understood America well. Knowing the fact that he was black and most of the presidents of The United States had been white, he had to surpass racist comments from certain people such as White supremacies and prove that he could be a great president and would do whatever it takes to make America a great country. The ad commercial was originally a beer commercial and using it people were more aware of those issues that are happening in America right now. That is why the ad was brilliant. All Hail Barack Obama!
